Each day, a student in our classroom is assigned to be the Roving Reporter.  His or her job is to write a short article about what took place in class that day.  Students use our classroom iPad to type their articles, which become part of their writing grade.  See the links below for expectations, scoring guidelines, and a Roving Reporter calendar.

This web page is updated daily, so be sure to check back often to read about life in Room 26!

Thank you to Mr. Coley (http://mrcoley.com) for this great idea.

First Blog of 2012, by Nalani

We did our morning work and then we did the pledge and  sang "America, My Country Tis of Thee."  We did Accelerated Math or Ten Marks then we corrected math.  We did a mad minute fractions in simplest form, too.  We came in from PE and did the six questions, vocabulary, and we are practicing for the state writing test.  We have to find a title for a story as practice for the test.  We told our ideas for the title and we are going to do star ideas after lunch.  We are writing why it should be the title we chose, and we did our grammar packet after we finished.

Friday, by Nerveen

We started off the day with reading and social studies tests.  The teacher is grading and teaching the 5th graders homework while the 4th graders work on their tests and edit our letters to Santa.  Then we are going to switch.  Now 4th graders are doing a problem solving investigation in math and since we are doing two lessons today we are also doing multiplication with multi-digit numbers.  The teacher and students, including me, are doing it right, but the PowerPoint keeps doing it a different and wrong way.  When we walked in from recess, the teacher gave us 25 minutes to work on our Santa Letters and our math page 7-6, but in order to work on our math page, the letters have to be done.  Now I am working on the two math pages 7-5 and 7-6.  It is kind of complicated for me but then again, most of them are super easy.  The teacher is working with us now.  When we finished correcting and finishing our math we went on to accelerated math.  I didn't pass only 2 objectives and Aleah, she is kind of a new student, but she is awesome with accelerated math, she already has more than 74 objectives, so she is grading my accelerated math.  We are going to lunch :)  We just came back and now we are reading Sign of the Beaver.  We're on chapter 17 and we will stop at chapter 19.  We just sang our Figurative Language song.  You see on Wednesday we are going around to every 4 and 5 grade class to sing our song, and honestly, I think we need just a little bit more practice to be quiet at the end of the song, and we are going one more time right now!
