Each day, a student in our classroom is assigned to be the Roving Reporter.  His or her job is to write a short article about what took place in class that day.  Students use our classroom iPad to type their articles, which become part of their writing grade.  See the links below for expectations, scoring guidelines, and a Roving Reporter calendar.

This web page is updated daily, so be sure to check back often to read about life in Room 26!

Thank you to Mr. Coley (http://mrcoley.com) for this great idea.

Then, Mrs. Clark gave us our fifth grade math.  (Oh, great.  I hope I passed.  :D)  After that, Mrs. Clark said, "Take out Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH."  After we read 2 chapters Mrs. Clark gave us our Social Studies retake test.  (I got 74%.  Better than last time.)
After that, Mrs Clark gave us our six questions.  While we listened to our story, the fourth graders corrected their Science Study Guide.  Then, we corrected our Science Study Guide.  When we finished we had to proofread our six questions.  When we finished proofreading we did a writing task.  Then we sang "50 States, 50 State Capitals."  Then we wrote in our agendas

Busy Tuesday, by Yasmine C.

Today we started our morning work and we did a paper about United States and we had to write the states correctly.  Then we corrected our morning work.  Mrs. Clark said, "We have a lot of math to do today."

Then everyone did math.  Fifth graders corrected their math homework first.  One problem that the teacher had trouble on was #12. -4 = -11 - d  _=-7.  Then the fifth grader did a math study guide.  Then we corrected our study guide.  On fifth grader's study guide we had 26 problems.  While the fifth was doing that, the fourth grade did AM.  After Am fourth grade corrected homework and did math on the power point with the teacher.  Then the four grader learned about decimals.  Then they went back to AM.  Then we went to PE and recess.
Then we did grammar.  Mrs. Clark gave us a page that was about Appositives and Interjections.  Then we corrected our grammar page.  Then Mrs. Clark corrected our grammar homework.  When we got to "Take Me Out to the Ball Game," someone sang, "Take me out tot the ball game.  Take me out to the crowd.  Buy me some peanuts or cracker jacks.  I don't care if I ever come back ... "  Then we did grammar in our packet we got yesterday.  We did one page so we finished our packet.
Then we read Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH.  We read two chapters.  One called "The Crow and the Cat," and the other was called "Mr. Fitzgibbon's Plow."  Then we went to lunch.
After lunch the fourth graders read in their Reading books.  AFter lunch the fifth graders did a REsponse to Literature Writing Task called "Little by Little, Piece by Piece."  Then the fourth grades went to recess while the fifth grade kept doing the writing task.  After recess we listened about the fourth grade's Response to Literature from yesterday that they did or that they did it in 2006.
After that we did Social Studies.  Fourth graders were on the computers listening to their Social Studies while the fifth graders read with the teacher.  Every one had to put answers in their Social Studies books.  After Social Studies we packed up.  Then after school Mrs. Clark had intervention.

Terrific Thursday, by Noah A.

Today we started with a science test.  I bet, like always, all of us got a good grade.  After we had to take out our math materials.

Then our teacher said, "Take out your math homework."
The teacher's book was wrong because the problem was supposed to be subtracted and the book added.  Some of us have to correct our homework before the end of the day.  The fifth graders are going on the computer and the fourth graders went with the teacher.  Mrs. Clark told the fifth graders to do Accelerated Math.  Then we went to P.E.  We had to jog four laps after we warmed up.  The only kids that could go to recess were the ones that were caught up with Accelerated Math.  After recess we corrected grammar.  Now we are doing our grammar packets.  We started doing our summary test and print partners.  The fifth graders started with the summary and the four graders were doing their print partners.  Then we switched.  Mrs. Clark gave us 5 more minutes to finish our tests.  Then we got our stories back from yesterday.  She is going to choose someone's story that was the best.  Mrs. Clark said that she would choose one fourth grader and one fifth grader.  The fourth grader was Naydeen.  The fifth grader was Zachary T.  We got to play computer games about states.  Then all of us did science.  Now we are packing up to go home.  Today was exhausting!

The Writing Test, by Aleah

We started taking out our homework, and then we did our morning work.  We corrected our morning work.  Then the 4th graders took a math test and the 5th corrected their homework.  When the 4th graders finished, they had to correct it with their responder.  Then we have to do AM or silent read.  After that we corrected our grammar.  We did our grammar packet.  It was about subject and predicate.  We learned about imperative sentences.  We also did simple subjects.  We just got back from recess and it was very windy.  My friend Jasmin was running and the wind was pushing us.  We are going over the summaries that we did yesterday.  Mrs. Clark can give you the score of a one, two, three, or four.  Today we are taking a writing test for the district.  After we finished we needed to proofread our summaries and change whatever mistakes we made.  We corrected our science study guide.  The 5th graders played the e-word game.  We just got back from lunch and the 4th graders played the e-word game.  Then we started learning about Pecos Bill.  We wrote our homework and now we are leaving.

The Imagination Machine, by Noah W.

Today we started the day off by unpacking our things and getting right to work on our morning work.  Then we corrected our morning work.  After that we got ready for math.  First we corrected our math homework.  Today 4th graders go on the computers.  After we were done on the computer, we talked about narrative writing.  Then we went to the Imagination Machine assembly.  At the assembly, they read stories and whoever was picked that meant they wrote a good story and Dane was one of them.  Then we went to recess after the assembly.  Then when we came back we talked about narrative writing, just like before we went to the assembly.  We talked about transition words in narrative writing.  Then we talked about the writing task and then Mrs. Clark passed out our papers.  Then we got right to work.  Then we proofread our stories.  We corrected our science study guide after that.  Then we went to the computers to play our E-Word Game.  After that we went to lunch.  When we came back, we corrected our grammar.  Then we wrote our homework down and practiced our song.  That's all today.  Bye!!

Science Experiments! by Erica

In the morning, we unpacked and got started on our Marven and the Great North Woods comp. tests, Social Studies tests and our Geography tests.  Some of those were hard!!!

But before I go on and tell you about my day, Mrs. Clark told us that we were going to do eight fifth-grade science experiments.  I'm so excited!!!  Hee hee hee!!!  Then we corrected our math homework.  While the Fifth-graders did theirs, we started science.  Then the Fifth-graders went and learned with Mrs. Clark while the Fourth graders learned alone.  But the Fourth-graders got in trouble, so we had to put our heads down.
After science we did our Spelling tests.  I hope I did a GREAT job on it.  When I say GREAT, I mean GREAT!!!
Then she told us who passed and who is done with accelerated math.  After that we had to read science books.  But not the big ones, the ones that give you info on weather.  I read a book called Life Under the Ice: The Importance of Density.  It looked like a good book to read.  Then the recess bell rang.  After recess, we came in and we did some experiments.  First we watched some videos, then we did some ourselves.  It was so fun!!!
We karate-chopped a ruler and the newspaper kept it down.  Then we did this water thing where you have a cup and a card and you fill the cup with water and you place the card under the cup and then you tip the cup over and then let go of the card and it stays on the cup.  Three cups spilled on Morgan at the same time!!!  I got spilled on once!  Then we went to lunch.  After that, we shot POTATOES out of straws!!!  Then we went to last recess and then we packed up and did art.  We were drawing landscapes.  But we didn't get to finish, so Mrs. Clark said we can do it in our free time next week!!!  She is such a nice teacher!!!

Jasmin's Birthday, by Jasmin

Today in the morning we did our morning work, as usual, then we corrected it.  Then the teacher told us which website to go on so we can learn our States and Capitals.  After that the teacher told Abby and me to go up and the whole class sang the Happy Birthday song to us.  Then we got ready for math and the 4th graders got to go on the computers, and after that we did accelerated math.  After we did math we read for a little while until the 5th graders were done with their math because the teacher switches from grade to grade level.  We then corrected our grammar homework and the one from yesterday.  We also saw our score on our writing paragraph.  After recess we did reading, social studies, and the e-word game and the 5th graders were doing social studies while we were reading.  While we were reading other students probably preferred to go on the computer because she showed us where we can find our state and capital game.  (Jasmin wrote more for her blog today, but accidentally erased it . . . that's the way it is sometimes when you use technology)  :-)
